Mastering Mastery Checks
Explore how to get started with Mastery Checks, examine current practices, analyze how to move forward following a Master Check, and work to determine initial placement utilizing Mastery Check data. Participants will utilize reflections, case studies, and models to refine and improve their practice through this interactive training.

 

Volume 5: Morphological Form to Fun – It’s All Greek to Me!

Take your Reading by Design instruction to the next level with engaging, practical strategies for teaching Greek and Latin roots in a way that makes morphology fun and meaningful for students with dyslexia. This session provides the tools to strengthen fluency, word building, and vocabulary acquisition, helping your students unlock the power of language with confidence!

 

Successful Implementation in the Secondary Classroom
Explore making adjustments to the program based upon the age and interest levels of the secondary student.

 

NEW!  Instructional Decision Making 2.0—The Power of the Sticky Note 
Take your intervention planning to the next level with practical strategies for using data—and yes, even sticky notes to meet individual student needs. This session offers real-world tools and case studies to help you make informed decisions for all learners, including twice-exceptional, emergent bilingual, and younger students.

 

Sessions TBA:
  • Advanced Decoding and Syllable Division: Revisit the six syllable types, the steps to word division, and coding concepts. Additional scaffolds and multisensory techniques will be shared.
  • Components of Language: Delve deeper into the Components of Language part of the lesson cycle.  Additional scaffolds and multisensory techniques will be shared.
  • Foundations of Written Composition: Explore the stages of typical writing development, as well as understand phrases, dependent clauses, independent clauses, and the construction of sentences.
  • Morphology: Explore Greek and Latin roots, affixes, and how these morphemes are identified to assist with reading, spelling, and vocabulary acquisition.  Participants are encouraged to bring Volume 5 to the training.
  • Phonological Awareness: Review what Phonological Awareness is and why it is important.  The continuum of PA skills will be explored, as well as how the skills are taught in Reading by Design.
  • Polishing Our Practice: Review lesson components while reflecting on current intervention practices. Delivery method fundamentals associated with each component will be reviewed with time-saving tips and management techniques woven throughout the session.
  • Spelling and Phoneme-Grapheme Mapping: Revisit the SOS procedure, spelling rules, use of the Linking Spelling to Reading Dictionary, and go deeper with phoneme-grapheme mapping
