The Active Shooter Preparedness (ASP) Certification Program, led by Region 4, equips school districts and charter schools to effectively manage large-scale emergency incidents through the implementation of 21 evidence-based safety standards. This rigorous certification process promotes collaboration between school leaders and local public safety professionals to strengthen crisis readiness and communication. In partnership with Sam Houston State University’s CARES Center, the program offers a joint certification, optional college credit, and access to real-time data and advanced simulation training. With a focus on continuous improvement and prevention, the ASP Certification helps schools build the systems and confidence needed to keep students and staff safe.
