Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees Named Region 4 School Board of the Year
HOUSTON, Texas—The Galena Park Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees has been named the 2025 Region 4 School Board of the Year. This honor recognizes the Board’s exceptional leadership, dedication to student success, and steadfast service to the community.
The Galena Park ISD Board will represent Region 4 as its nominee for the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Outstanding School Board Award, to be announced during txEDCON25 in Houston this September.
Under the theme of “Building on a Legacy,” the Galena Park ISD Board has demonstrated a passionate commitment to creating opportunities for all students. With many trustees being proud graduates or family of graduates of Galena Park ISD, their work reflects deep personal investment in the community they serve. Their leadership has resulted in consistent improvements in student performance, the success of innovative educational programs, and a culture of excellence that extends beyond the classroom.
“The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees embodies a spirit of unity, service, and vision,” said Dr. John Moore, Superintendent of Galena Park ISD. “They are tireless champions for our students, staff, and community, and their dedication ensures our district continues to thrive today and for generations to come.”
Among their many achievements, the Board’s trustees have overseen the expansion of dual credit programs, ensuring students can earn college credits and industry certifications. They have also supported initiatives like the district’s ACT School Day, making college readiness assessments accessible to all students. Their focus on mental health and wellness is evident through broadened school-based health services, employee assistance programs, and stipends for counselors completing advanced mental health certifications.

About Region 4 Education Service Center
Region 4 is one of 20 regional education service centers established by the Texas Legislature in 1967 to assist school districts and charter schools in improving student performance and districts’ economic efficiency. Regional education service centers are nonregulatory, intermediate education units.
